DIY Pumpkin Playdough

If you’re like me you are on the lookout for activities to do at home that will help keep your child entertained and learning. I am mom to a 4 year old that is always on the go. I am also mom to a 4 month old. When presented with the challenges of being mom to more than one child, a challenge that comes to mind is splitting their needs and my attention. Hence, my love for trying new DIY projects that allow me a break to sit down or get chores done while my son M plays.

Keeping with the fall season and my love for pumpkin, I decided to try a super simple DIY recipe incorporating pumpkin. While you and your little ones play you can enjoy the sweet aroma of the fall season. Guys, it’s only 3 ingredients! Here’s what you need:

    • 1 cup flour
    • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
    • 1/4 pumpkin puree

Extra supplies:

    • Bowl
    • Mixing spoon
    • Measuring cups
    • Cookie cutters and other toys to use in the playdough

Instructions are fairly simple. Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and stir. To change the consistency add more flour, which will reduce the stickiness. Let the little hands become little helpers, involving your child in the measuring, pouring, and mixing.

My son was occupied with this playdough for at least 40 minutes. He had a lot of fun making shapes using cookie cutters. And don’t forget, since it is made out of these ingredients it is edible, which means it is safe for kids! We kept ours in a ziplock bag to keep it fresh and lasting longer.
