If you’re like me you’re guilty of allowing your child or toddler access to your iPhone or iPad device. It might be educational reasons. It might be to save your sanity or keep their attention so that work or chores can be done around the house. We didn’t have iPhones growing up (and survived) but darn it I’m a happy mama when I can enjoy a hot meal or watch my son during his swim lessons because baby #2 is playing games or watching a show on the phone.
That being said you also know the struggle is real that even babies are smart and learn quickly. They love the home button. They love to swipe right, left, all around. It’s even fun to hear Siri talk. Thanks to technological advances we can even store credit card information for quick and easy payment options…just for our child to risk an accidental shopping spree. This however is not helpful when you are trying to get things done or catch a break. Lucky for us there is a simple way to lock your child into the apps on your phone. Below are the steps, specifically for iPhone users.
Step 1: Go to Settings on your iPhone
Step 2: Go to General
Step 3: Go to Accessibility
Step 4: Go to Guided Access (all the way at the bottom)
Step 5: Turn on Guided Access & choose Passcode
Step 6: Close out of the Settings app and open your desired app
Step 7: Hit the Home button three times, or for Iphone X users hit the (right) side button three times
Step 8: Relax and enjoy the LOCK IN
Step 9: Repeat step 7 to unlock & enter passcode
Tip: The Iphone X will also lock the volume button while they are locked into the app!
Below are pictures to show Steps 2-5.
