This holiday appetizer recipe is always the hit of the party when I bring it to gatherings, meetings, work functions, or holiday parties. I’ve used this as a simple cheese ball recipe for years, however, adding the decorations to make it a snowman is so cute it almost makes you not want to eat it!
But once you take your first bite there is no going back!

- Soften cream cheese and mix 3 packages together.
- Mix onion, pepper, and pineapple into the cream cheese mixture.
- Cover the mixture and refrigerate about 4 hours or until it is firm enough to mold and shape.
- Remove from the refrigerator. Shape one large ball (body) and one small ball (head). Wrap the balls and place in freezer.
- 12 hours before serving, remove the balls from the freezer, place in the refrigerator, and thaw in the wrapping.
- When ready to prepare your dish and serve, place the small cheese ball (head) on top of the large cheese ball (body).
- Decorate the snowman cheese ball head with 1 carrot nose, 2 chocolate chip or raisin eyeballs, a thin small piece of red pepper for the mouth, pieces of parsley to form a crown on the head, and 5 small square pieces of red pepper amongst the parsley.
- Decorate the snowman cheese ball body with 2 celery sticks on each side for arms, 3 chocolate chips or raisins for the buttons down the front of the body, and form a scarf with small carrots sliced thin to form around the neck.
- Place crackers around the bottom of the body, and serve.
The details of the decorations are left up to your creativity and favorite foods. I've included my go to choices below. Some alternatives are asparagus or pretzels for arms and interchanging green or red peppers to stay with the Christmas theme. To add more flavor you can add pecans to the cheese ball, however, I have found that it takes away from the white presentation of the snowman and is risky with food allergies.
